Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. was formerly Shanghai Aviation Industry Secondary Technical School and Shanghai Labor First Technical School. In 1969, the two schools merged to form the Great Wall Machinery Factory. In 1981, it was renamed Shanghai Great Wall Elevator Factory and became one of the backbone enterprises in the domestic production of elevators.
In January 1987, Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. was established. The joint venture company is composed of four parties, with the investment ratio of 60% from the Chinese side and 40% from the foreign side.
The company has a total investment of US$200 million, covers an area of 188,700 square meters, and currently has more than 2,000 employees.
After 20 years of entrepreneurship and development, the company has become one of the largest elevator manufacturing and sales companies in China. The product market share has maintained a leading position in the Chinese elevator market for many years. In 2006, the sales of elevators exceeded 20,000 units, reaching 21,489 units, setting a new historical record. Over the past 20 years, a total of 157,000 elevators have been manufactured and sold. The company's economic indicators and benefits achieved for 14 consecutive years since 1993 have been among the best in the Chinese elevator industry.

Since its establishment, with the joint efforts of all parties and the specific responsibility of the enterprise technology center (national level), the company has accelerated the introduction and transformation of Japan Mitsubishi's world-leading fully computerized AC variable voltage and frequency (VVVF) elevator technology, becoming the first domestic manufacturer to launch the VVVF series of elevators. On this basis, we continue to dynamically introduce and transform the world's leading latest technology fully computerized intelligent series elevators and new escalator series, and work with Japan Mitsubishi Electric to develop high-quality residential elevators. In recent years, the company has accelerated the transformation of the latest ELENSSA machine room-less and NEXWAY small machine room elevator technologies that are energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
While accelerating the introduction and transformation, the company has increased its efforts in independent development and has successively developed the advanced microcomputer network control AC voltage and frequency conversion HOPE series and Lingyun (LEHY) series elevators, making the proportion of products with independent intellectual property rights in the total sales volume increase year by year. In 2006, products with independent intellectual property rights accounted for 60% of the total sales volume. Shanghai Jinmao Tower
Jinmao Tower is located in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai. It is an 88-story super high-rise building with a building height of 420.5m and a building area of 289,000m. It is the third tallest building in Asia and the tallest in China. It is one of the symbols of China's reform and opening up and economic take-off. The building uses Mitsubishi vertical elevators and escalators, totaling 79 units, of which 2 are the fastest 9m/s elevators in mainland China.
Shanghai World Expo Center
The Shanghai World Expo is a national project. Located along the river in Area B, the core area of the Expo Park in Pudong, the Expo Center, as one of the most important venues in the Expo's permanent venues, is mainly used for conference reception and public activities. During the Expo, it will serve as the park's celebration center, cultural exchange center, news center, reception and banquet center, and command and operation center. After the Expo, it will serve as a venue for high-level international and domestic important forums and conferences, international conferences and supporting facilities. The project has selected a total of 65 Mitsubishi elevators and Mitsubishi escalators, and has entrusted Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. to be responsible for installation and long-term maintenance.
Shenzhen Huanggang Century Center
Located in the southeast of Shenzhen CBD South District, it covers an area of 30,000 m and a total construction area of 430,000 m. Its main building is 300 meters high and integrates office buildings, business apartments, commerce, and hotels. It is the largest urban complex project in Shenzhen Futian Central District to date. Huanggang Century Center has selected a total of 116 Mitsubishi elevators and Mitsubishi escalators, of which 9 are 6m/s elevators. The project has been entrusted to Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. to be responsible for the installation and long-term maintenance work.
